I was wandering through the neighborhood Dollarama one day just a little too close to the Valentine's goodies. Peaking at the packages when something popped out at me. One of the candy hearts said "YOU ROCK". Well it didn't say it. "YOU ROCK" was barely molded into its surface. When I had the package in my hand I had thought as far as ahead as making some kind of picture for Valentine's Day that I could post to my Instagram page. The message aligns nicely with the music theme I have going on over there. I return home with the package of candied hearts. Once home I dumped them out on top of my freezer and proceeded to pick out the ones that said "YOU ROCK". I had to get right down to the bottom of the bag before I had all five colors. Then it was a matter of shaping them into the flower pattern and deciding whether to shoot on a white or a black background. That turned out to be a simple decision. White washed out the colors. Black makes them pop. The hearts, candies, flower shape, "YOU ROCK" message, and even the star shape at the center all combine to send a loving declaration for Valentine's Day. Even if I am the only one that gets it. (Yes, in case you're wondering, my mother did tell me not to play with my food. Sometimes life is just that much sweeter when you disobey. XOXO)
