This Is Not A Toy Exhibit

This Is Not A Toy Exhibit is still one of my all time favourite collections.  It was on display at the Design Exchange from February 7th to May 19th 0f 2014.  (Yeah ... Last year)  To be perfectly honest with you I originally went to the This Is Not A Toy exhibit because of Pharrell Williams ability to make people "Happy" through his music. Before I went I knew that he had guest curated the exhibit at the Design Exchange (with many of the pieces coming from his private collection). .
A quick glance around the gallery allowed for the absorption of the links between music and this new art form. There was Jamie Hewlett's band the Gorillaz (who have earned the Guinness Book of World Record's distinction of the Most Successful Virtual Band [2001]) produced by Kid Robot and the Kiss Starchild Kubrick displayed a distance apart on a window sill. Daft Punk and Beatles Kubricks by Medicom hanging out in relative proximity on a display shelf in the main portion of the gallery.

It got to a point where I began to notice who was missing ... Elvis, MJ and (God forbid) Madonna.   Despite the obvious oversight I am grateful that the Design Exchange and Pharrell Willliams provided the introduction to an art form that is in the infancy of its creative potential.
