A Tribute to Canadian Stunt Driver Ken Carter The single mindedness of both Ken Carter (thinking he could complete a jump that Evil Knievel thought was dangerous) and Mark Haney (thinking he could complete a tribute album to Ken Carter on his double bass) was just the beginning of the similarities between their journey's down the speedway called Life.
In 1976 Ken Carter wanted to jump in a rocket powered car to land in a bed of roses. He wanted to hop the St.Lawrence River from the Canadian side to land on an island on the American side When Ken was alone "The Carter Situation" had him wondering if this is what he really wanted. More than anything Ken didn't want any regrets. "You have to bite off a hunk until you've conquered it." In 2008 Mark Haney declared his intention to pay tribute to Ken Carter in the form of a concept album. He wanted to make the ultimate statement with his double bass. Spent a lot of time thinking "is this what I really want?" Never knowing what he would be doing in six months time. Like Ken, Mark didn't want any regrets either. "The deeper you go the higher the rewards." ***SPOILER ALERT*** The highest reward had to be when Mark Haney went to a psychic to see if Ken Carter approved of the album. At that point he was told that Ken Carter had been riding shotgun as a spirit guide throughout the entire project. Papa Alaev Rules Everyone defers to Papa Alaev. In a musical family with three generations living under one roof you can expect some dissonance. Papa Alaev likes to believe that everyone is marching along to his tune.
Unfortunately, his daughter Ada, now a full grown adult, and a mother, is tired of being referred to as a "little girl". You can hear her displeasure with their relationship when she takes centre stage, so to speak, at his 80th birthday celebration announcing "I'm very proud to be my father's daughter even though he's not proud of me." Thankfully, one of the grandsons is prepared to step up acknowledging that he has a lot of Papa Alaev in him. He may be the only hope that this family has of achieving any harmony. . He was immediately overwhelmed by a rich sound that seem to fill the studio. That single note turbo charged his career. His Cars single raced to the top of the charts in the UK and Canada. Throughout the documentary you learn that his music is the chassis that protects his creative self. His career is the engine that drives his family to America in search of greater opportunities. His family members are the gas pedals that provide the momentum to move forward. The social anxiety and depression are the gauges that he is constantly monitoring.
Gary Numan - Android. In la La Land is about so much more than just his journey to Los Angeles to revamp his career. It's about his relationships with his music, career, family, and most importantly, Gary Numan, himself. the bugs the spiders bees, flies, & fleas mosquitos and slugs Ah sunshine glass of wine a golden glow on the patio Ew the mud the water in the basement from puddle to flood Ah colours the flowers in the garden the sky ... a rainbow by Cheryl Duggan April 12th, 2016 On Friday, April 8th, 2016 (National Zoo Lovers Day) I spent the day observing the Giant Pandas at the Toronto Zoo. For the record I am well aware that there are another 5000 or so animals at the zoo. Thankfully, I made the choice when I was planning my visit to focus on the pandas this trip.
Honestly, how many times have you visited the zoo? How many animals did you see? Can you accurately recall specific details like their eating preferences, their sleeping patterns, or even identify specific personality traits of the individual animals? Most of my previous zoo visits have been a blur. Plus, I would be lucky if I came out with one or two good photos. So I decided on a concentrated study (kind of like what I used to do for my undergrad in Art History.) Instead, of going to an art gallery and staring at one painting for at least an hour I decided to go to the zoo to stare at one animal for at least a couple hours. I ended up spending the entire day observing the pandas Er Shun, Da Mao, Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue. As a result, I can honestly say I will remember this zoo visit for the rest of my life. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple months you have heard about the bitter allegations lodged by Kesha against Sony and "Dr" Luke. Kesha claims that Dr Luke (aka Lukasz Gottwald) drugged, raped, and emotionally abused her. As a result she was hoping that the courts would nullify her remaining six album contract with Sony.
Since the allegations went public there has been some intense reaction. There was the #FreeKesha campaign on social media, Taylor Swift had contributed $250,000 to Kesha, and there were rumours that Sony would release Dr Luke once his contract was up. Unfortunately, this ordeal is far from over for Kesha. By far the most disturbing part of this ordeal for Kesha has to be the repeated victimization that has occurred since presenting her case to the courts. According to a Reuters article the latest ruling by Supreme Court Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich (who in the initial ruling in February stated that Kesha was "free" to record with Sony) rubber stamped her original decision on Wednesday writing that "Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime." Last time I checked it's not the socially appropriate way to say I like you either. As far as I am concerned they shouldn't be able to review their own decisions. I am supremely upset that this statement came from a female judge. "Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime." Yeah? Well FUCK you too! 1 - They have added you on every social network after your first meeting. In addition, they refer to you as the love of their life, their "wife", and begin advancements on every boundary on your list.
2 - They will make an initial investment of time and/or money in a relationship. Once they have you hooked they withdraw their supports. 3 - They cheat or monopolize games from Scrabble to Truth or Dare. If it's a game based on a point system they will cheat simply by insisting that you play by their rules which are subject to change at a moments notice. In a game like Truth or Dare their truth is the only truth that matters. You'll find yourself strangely mute during this exercise. 4 - They do not hear the word "No". It seems to be a completely foreign concept to a narcissist. They appear to take it as a personal affront no matter what the circumstances. They can hear a hundred loud "no's" about a specific issue and one mumbled "yes". They'll hang you on that one "yes". 5 - They do not respect your personal space. On the other hand, don't you dare infringe on theirs. Dating a narcissist means that your every action is open to intense scrutiny. But, their every flirtation (and there will be far more than you can possibly keep track of) is not to be questioned. 6 - They will have several accounts on the same social media network that they will admit to using to cheat at on line games Chances are though, that if they cheat at on line games, they'll cheat in real life relationships too. 7 - They are the type of people that will tell you they have completed SEAL training. Meanwhile, they never made it through basic training. They will claim some advance knowledge or skill that will be beneficial to your future. Once they get called up to the plate they do something random like check Youtube for tutorials on their specific area of "expertise". 8 - They are the masters of deflection. "You're seeing things." or "If you did this ,,, I wouldn't have to do that" or "You keep packing my stuff .... " The only time the conversation becomes about you is when they want to play the blame game. The worst part is that in the grand scheme of things you know that it IS your fault. You let them suck you into their black hole of a life. 9 - They are cruel. They will belittle your accomplishments. They will make you cry into your dinner at a new restaurant. They will physically push you after a night of celebrating and chuckle if you stumble. They will try to sabotage any attempts you make at personal improvement. 10 - Finally, being with a narcissist will negatively impact every aspect of your life. Socially friends will start falling away and family will comment about how you are no longer the independent role model they admired. Financially, your effort and resources will go to helping your narcissist make more of themselves ... Even if they do have adequate resources of their own. (Oh, to top it all off, when all is said and done, your narcissist will claim you didn't support their dreams, wishes, or goals.) Physically, it's not uncommon to incur side effects (weight fluctuations, migraines, insomnia, & physical weakness) from being in a relationship with a narcissist. Psychologically, there is complete devastation. Treatment options for recovering from a narcissist resemble those for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. |
