Maybe you heard about the guy who got his camera equipment stolen while he was shooting at Nathan Phillips Square last weekend. My original response was to post to Twitter to help get this guy's equipment back. But after thinking about this for a day or two I have a sh*t tonne of questions.
Why was he carrying all his gear? (Like EVERYTHING including laptops [as in more than one?] and hard drives. If I took all my gear with me I would have to lug a full size suitcase! My external hard drives and laptops don't leave the house. I leave with two of my camera bodies [one mirrorless, and one DSLR] with appropriate lenses attached with one of my trusty 40mp camera phones in my pocket and maybe one of my tripods) Why did he leave it unattended? (My camera equipment is as precious to me {and likely as expensive} as some people's personal vehicles. Leaving my camera bag anywhere would be the equivalent of you leaving your vehicle parked out front with the keys in the ignition. So maybe to say he deserved it is a bit harsh. But, if this is for real, he learned a valuable lesson.) Why did he just stand by and watch it being stolen … Are you kidding me? You don't even hear him grumble about it as he's recording. Trust me you'd hear me grumble and then some. Then for him to say he didn't file a police report, yet, if someone sees his backpack anywhere to reach out to him. What is he going to do? Without a police report he will likely end up in hot water with those very police he wishes to defund. So why doesn't he set up a Go Fund Me page with a list of all the stolen equipment. I would have contributed. He's getting all donations in cash sent directly to him. He has posted to his Instagram stating in writing "I’m not doing a go fund me, but I’ll do some discounted videos" to, as he explains, replace his laptop. Well what's he going to shoot them with? No worries. I'm just gonna hang onto my extra cash. Buy myself some new gear. Three things I consider wins that happened during the TCHC Board of Director's virtual meeting on April 27th, 2020 (all of which I highlighted in my deputation submission) - 1) there is an extensive audit happening with respect to the sprinkler systems in our buildings 2) a - the $300,000 contingencies have been removed from the two projects that were already receiving additional money through change order requests 2) b - the city councillors are seeking a history of change order requests for those sites (Honestly, this is NOT the result of a valid tendering process. Contractors appear to be underbidding to get the initial contract. Then they continuously come back to BIFAC (Building Investment, Finance and Audit Committee) or the Board of Directors requesting more money. In some cases I would even argue that TCHC doesn't properly identify the scope of work up front.) 3) a - there was not an Emergency Executive Committee created (the proposal didn't even include the COO Sheila Penny. How can you have a legitimate executive committee without the COO's contribution?) 3) b - the attempt to turn over complete responsibility to the President and CEO Kevin Marshman was denied. He is not the Mayor of TCHC town. Unfortunately, they didn't get around to talking about implementing the Rubin Thomlinson recommendations. You can read a few of the concerns I have in my deputation to the TCHC Board of Directors. (Would it really have killed them to take a moment and reassure TCHC tenants that they were doing everything they could to prevent an outbreak of COVID 19 in our buildings?) Watch this Michael Moore documentary about the alternative energy products that are currently available. Form your own opinion. Am I the only one that when confronted with the process of bio fuels wondered how long it would take for them to market this as an alternative to the cremation or burial of our loved ones?
It's unequivocally illegal to drive around with Grandma in the trunk. But, it's environmentally friendly to drive around with Grandma in the tank. Otherwise, I find it interesting that since Planet Of The Humans documentary was released on YouTube the Green Industry is just demanding that the film be take down from certain websites. You'd think that if there was any false information in the Planet Of The Humans that the Green Industry would be threatening to sue the filmmakers. I can't help but draw the conclusion that the Green Industry isn't really worried about environmental benefits. It is worried about the other "Green" …. The money. Exactly how much money does the green energy sector accumulate in government grants, and civilian donations?
